This November, we’re giving it a stage.

of pregnant Filipino mothers show signs of clinically significant depressive symptoms— 62% after birth. Nearly three times the global average.
And yet, how often do we simply ask a mother: How are you?

There are a lot of beautiful reasons to celebrate motherhood. That’s not really why we built this.
Every mother carries a load that’s almost never named — the mental load of running a household and a family’s emotional life. The load of expectations: some she puts on herself, some handed down by how she was raised, some simply what culture and tradition still expect of a “good mother.”
So much of that load is made of stories she’s never had the chance to tell — the worry, the guilt, the version of herself she gave up. That’s exactly what this play carries for her.
of pregnant / postpartum Filipino women report clinically significant depressive symptoms — ~2.5× the global average for lower/middle-income countries.

The play features gathered stories made up of narrations, essays, research and collections. Real experiences- reflections and memories- from mothers across generations, personalities, circumstances.
The production hopes to spotlight these stories through various formats, mostly through powerful narrations, in order to spark conversations, unearth and acknowledge memories that may surface, encourage understanding and acceptance, and at its core, give the audience a look into every mother’s heart and mind.
10 years in the making. 20 years of collected mom stories behind it.
Every story in the play is sorted into one of these — the same five a mother sorts her own life into, whether she’s ever said so out loud.
Pregnancy. Possibility. Fear. Wonder. The beginning of a life — and the beginning of becoming a mother.
The endless visible and invisible work: meals, laundry, careers, finances, the mental load, the daily work of keeping a family going.
Postpartum struggles. Miscarriage. Loss. Broken dreams. Grief. The parts of motherhood that are rarely spoken about.
The fierce and extraordinary strength of mothers — to protect, nurture, fight, heal, advocate, and shape an entire generation.
The legacy a mother leaves behind. What children inherit beyond genetics — wisdom, courage, love, values, the ability to find their way.
From September 1 through November 22, we’re inviting our whole community to share the stories they carry — one theme at a time.
